Furniture Film Selection for Rounded Edges and Returns

For furniture with rounded edges, choose the film against the actual corner rather than a flat colour sample alone. Shortlist the 122cm wood-look or marble-effect roll for broader developed widths, or the 60cm silver film where it fits. Separate a single curved edge from a compound corner, then trial the intended return and visible join before buying the batch.

Three Furniture Finishes with Different Widths

Relia Wallpaper's China-based factory business offers these furniture-use films with online technical support. The wood-look cabinet/door-skin PVC is 1.22 × 50m with 0.29mm listed thickness; marble-effect PVC/vinyl is 122cm × 50m for walls and furniture; embossed silver PVC/vinyl is 60cm × 100m and names counters, cabinets and desktops.

Select the finish and width for the developed part, then obtain the method for its actual radius and return. The supplied descriptions do not set a universal bend radius, elongation limit or heat-forming schedule.

A Curved Edge and a Compound Corner Are Different

Describe whether the film turns over one continuous rounded edge, into an internal corner, or around a corner curving in two directions. Supply the radius, edge thickness, return length and photographs from more than one angle. A face-on photograph cannot show whether the film must stretch or meet another cut at the underside.

Mark visible and hidden joins separately. A buyer who accepts a small underside join has a different specification from one requiring an uninterrupted visible corner. This geometry is what the supplier and applicator need before proposing a product-specific trial.

A sheet turning over a cylindrical edge mainly bends in one direction; a compound corner changes shape in two. The latter may call for stretching, relief cuts or a separately designed join. These are application routes to evaluate, not permissions for the selected films. First define the geometry, then have the product-specific method and sample decide the acceptable route.

  1. Describe the shape

Single-axis edge or compound corner, radius, edge thickness and photographs.

  2. Develop the cut

Return length, trimming and visible versus hidden joins.

  3. Agree the application route

Selected film, actual coating and product-specific method.

  4. Accept the actual detail

Inspect the complete face, corner and underside before batch approval.

Preserve the Grain Across the Face and Return

The grey wood-look film is embossed and self-adhesive, with waterproof, moisture-proof, mould-proof and eco-friendly features. Keep the selected sample and grain arrow on the rounded-part drawing so the accepted flat-face direction continues through the return.

Review a neighbouring straight part beside the corner trial. Check interrupted grain lines and the visual sequence; use the 0.29mm listed thickness as a product dimension alongside a separately accepted forming detail.

Agree the Application Method Before the Corner Trial

Set out the proposed preparation, tools and edge finish. Where the method calls for heat, stretching, primer or overlap, obtain the selected film's instructions before using those steps on the trial.

Complex geometry is product-dependent. Use the exact radius, receiving finish and proposed method in the sample; another architectural film's temperature or forming limit is not an instruction for these products. Resolve unsupported steps before the trial proceeds.

  1. Select the actual film and receiving finish
  2. Show the complete radius/return detail
  3. Identify any proposed heat, stretch or primer
  4. Obtain product-specific method conditions
  5. Trial that method on the exact corner

Embossing and Reflection Need a Corner Approval

The silver embossed PVC/vinyl film uses self-adhesive peel-and-stick installation and offers oil-proof, waterproof, moisture-proof and mould-proof functions. Its fine irregular texture gives a distinct metallic reflection.

View the trial edge under the intended light beside an untouched flat sample. Record embossing, highlights, visible colour and seam so the acceptance describes the actual silver finish on the chosen corner.

A Developed-Width Example Includes More than the Face

Illustrative furniture face: 80cm wide, with a measured developed edge-and-return distance of 3cm at each side and an agreed 1cm trimming allowance per side. The required cut width is 80+3+3+1+1=88cm. A 122cm nominal width accommodates that geometry; 60cm does not in the same orientation.

For a real rounded detail, measure the developed path around the curve rather than substituting the edge's straight thickness. Add top/bottom dimensions separately and preserve pattern direction. Actual usable width and the accepted forming method still decide whether the selected roll can produce the part.

A Trial Record That Can Govern the Batch

Use the actual substrate, existing finish and most demanding repeated corner geometry. Record the film design, method and conditions, then inspect face appearance, wrinkles, joins and the edge after the agreed review period. Keep that period and handling conditions written down rather than assuming immediate tack establishes the final detail.

Compare the trial with the untouched sample and photograph the accepted outcome from normal viewing positions. If a radius, coating or forming step changes, make it a new trial group. Approval of one curved door is not automatically approval of every desk edge in the batch.

Carry the Marble Detail into Its Own Purchase Line

The 122cm × 50m marble-effect film is peel-and-stick with waterproof, moisture-proof, mould-proof and anti-static functions. Keep its complete vein reference with the accepted corner trial, because the vein's position affects how that edge reads.

The wood film starts at one roll, marble at one roll per design and silver at two rolls per colour. Retain each product's own dimensions and trial record before multiplying the accepted cut schedule into a batch purchase.

A Corner-Specific RFQ with an Accepted Detail

Provide the finish link, dimensioned corner drawing, radius and developed returns, plus the actual substrate and coating. Attach the intended pattern direction, visible-join requirements and proposed method. If a trial is already accepted, include its sample identifier, photographs and observation conditions with the part quantities.

All three products list online technical support. Ask for the actual usable roll width, packing and application instructions for the chosen reference. The quotation can then address a real furniture detail and quantity while any unsupported forming condition remains unresolved before production purchasing.
